The Chamonix is my go to shoe when I know I'll be on my feet all day or if I have a lot of walking to do. In fact, I usually choose these for light hiking on fairly level surfaces over my "real" hiking shoes. They are absolutely one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I've ever owned and I happen to like the styling as well. Sometimes touted as winter shoes because of the boiled wool lining, I haven't found them to be too warm for occasional wear during the summer.

While this shoe is roomy in the toe area, mine rubbed a little in the heel when I first got them, making me wonder if I'd gone a half size too small. But when I put them on again, the rubbing was no longer a problem and hasn't been since, even when I'm wearing a new pair, so I'm not sure if the shoe runs a little tight in the heel or if it was just that pair and/or my foot adjusting to them.

I have noticed that the sueded finish across the top of the shoe has gotten that somewhat shiny look where my jeans brush against them. I haven't tried cleaning or brushing the shoes to see if the original look can be restored - this is a very casual shoe for me, so I'm not bothered by this change in appearance; others may be.

I mentioned that this shoe - the Keen Chamonix - is my go to shoe for certain circumstances and I meant it. My original pair is used for gardening, the second pair I got is now used for walking the dog, two pairs are stored at my daughter's house for my use when I'm visiting her and the two newest pairs (one black, one brown) sit in my closest for "going to town". I consider them a staple and highly recommend them.
